UPMA

It was always - Ugh!!!!!upma, until this Upma went on to become an international menu.
Want to know how to make this, now famous Upma?
The most simple recipe.

You Need 1 cup of Semolina
2 cups of water
2 onions sliced fine, 1 green chilli slit lengthwise, chopped ginger
For seasoning: 2 spoons of cooking oil
Mustard seeds, a few grains of black gram dhal, and curry leaves.
Roast the semolina and set aside
Just heat the oil, and add seasoning ingredients, then the onions chillies and ginger and fry. Add water and salt. When it boils, reduce heat, and add the roasted semolina, little by little stirring all the while.That's it. Serve with cocconut chutney.

That was semolina or rawa

Here is upma out of wheat flour - puttu?

Take i cup of wheat flour in a bowl
Add salt and mix.  Sprinkle water, and keep on mixing, till it absorbs maximum water, without forming any lumps.  The mixture will be in powdery consistency , but moist,
Steam cook this mixture
In a pan, Heat 2 spoons of oil, and add mustard seeds
a few grains of urad dhal, and channa dal
curry leaves
1 red chilli
2green chillies,,chopped fine
a small piece of ginger
a pinch of hing
fry well, and and the steam  cooked wheat flour
Stir well and remove
Add grated coconut and chopped  coriander leaves
